...RECORD REVIEWS...
Thought Forms lead from the front with the Mono-like slow-rise buzz of “Your Bones”, all descending arpeggio and background feedback shimmer. As Charlie Romijn's plaintive, drowning vocals lead us through the wash of fuzz the great Drop Nineteens spring to mind – there’s a droop-lid coolness here that everyone wants taking up a little corner of their record collection. A soaring ‘gaze riff locks in with Guy Metcalfe’s rumbling drums there are flashes of the fondly remembered (at least ’round ‘ere) Cranes dreamy breeze of sound, climbing, reaching and satisfying in a nearly elemental fashion. The trick here is that while they do indeed sound like a bunch of ever-so-good bands they avoid pastiche and it’s hard to question the band’s legitimate weirdness.
- The Line Of Best Fit
Ghost Mountain is a superbly heady mix of full on doom rock drone and effects laden MBV style indie rock… If you can imagine Sonic Youth colliding head on with Sunn O))) then you’re pretty spot on.
- Norman Records (9/10)
This album is a real treat from start to finish… Thought Forms have created an absolute mammoth record.Ghost Mountain is the sound of a band brimming with confidence, ideas, and sheer talent putting a lot of other guitar based trios in the shade...
With so many shifts in ideas and feel, it was great listening to a band just put it all in there with disregard for chart sales etc and come out with such a complete and masterful album.
- Louder Than War
Ghost Mountain is an album so musically ambiguous, it is impossible stow it away under a conveniently selected all-encompassing genre... Volcanic sacrifice? Beachside offering? Spiritual ascendance? It could be anything. No-wave, drone, shoegaze, lo-fi, post-metal - the something-for-everyone Ghost Mountain is difficult not to like.
- Drowned In Sound
Thought Forms are making some challenging material, and those who stick it out will be rewarded. Forever flipping between moody textures and moments of sheer brutality, Ghost Mountain is an album that’s focused on pushing the limits of what alternative rock can really do.
- Music OMH
Here is a band who aren't afraid to flex their creative muscles and keep their fans - as well as themselves - on their toes. Everything from drone and doom metal to psychedelia and space-rock is touched upon on an album that is by turns intense and massively uplifting… As an album, Ghost Mountain works well, as it shows that the band aren't afraid to take risks… Those who enjoy being constantly surprised will get quite a lot out of it.
- The 405
What’s better than a good psychedelic band? Nothing that’s what. The title is more or less spot on as the music sounds quite dark and haunting at times (Ghost) and paints wonderful landscape in others (Mountain). The tribal, timeless vocals conjure a sense of adventure and get those hairs on the back of your neck standing. You feel like you’ve been zapped back in time into a world that’s dark but inviting.
- Echoes And Dust
Thought Forms’ use of low end is frequently (no pun intended) very satisfying: if not riffs, then the hypnotic droning backdrop to Burn Me Clean, at 13 minutes long easily Ghost Mountain’s epic...

When I say that this album is amazing I mean it with no exaggeration. It is amazing. Listen to it loud – let it take you deep down inside and far away at the same time.
- From The Inside
Ghost Mountain is a comprehensive album that shows Though Forms’ many talents and their ability to evolve as musicians and create interesting and complex music. With their latest release, Thought Forms have made a huge step forward and confirmed their greatness as a talented and evolving band. It is a very confident effort that shows band’s many talents. In a way, Thought Forms have stepped away from post-rock label and moved towards being more of an experimental band mixing various genres and styles. While keeping the elements they have utilized over several years, such as drones, shoe-gaze, and psychedelic soundscape, they have expended their sound by adding new components. Some music is so involving and moving, listening to it offers a unique and somewhat spiritual experience. Ghost Mountain is a perfect example of that.
- I Am Not A Musician
Their vision and passion leads them to wring out new sound from experimental and improvised excursions. Combined with a production that gives room for atmosphere and space means that they don’t slip into mere (quiet/loud, slow/fast) cliché or pastiche. They are, at times, loud and brutal but, as the album’s title suggests, there is a spectral quality; usually pertaining to the half-submerged vocals and their wont to shift pace continually.
