...The last band of the evening were the judges choice, 'Thought Forms'.
A trio comprising of two females, one on drums and one on guitar, and a male on guitar. Thought Forms provided us with a different sound to the evening that was textured, atmospheric and vocal-less.
Their set was a kind of happening, no real beginning, and no real end.
Their songs seemed to separate themselves by the coming in or going out of drums or the speed of the digital delay winding up or slowing down. An interesting painting of muzak meets shoegazer reminiscent of Bardo Pond or even solo Lee Ronaldo.

... Tonight's winners come in the surprising form of an instrumental outfit.
Joining a growing band of better known acts – Mogwai, Spiritualised, Sigur Ros etc – in breaking down restrictions imposed by conventions and traditions, much more emphasis is placed upon sound itself, and it's quite engrossing.
Loads of fat distortion, breakdowns and builds and some big warm bass are met with creative use of sample loops and backing tracks, and though it's something Moles rarely sees, it definitely works tonight.
There's occasions where they do seem to rely a little on white noise, and the audience looks a little bemused, but it's all experimental so who cares.
Also the lack of a vocalist renders a strange lack of specific interaction with the audience, and this leaves a slight void, but overall it's pretty darn good.
So to all ye nay-sayers (and that means you Mr Rumplefunkskin) stop yer bloody whining.  Tonight's battle was fought well by all, and won very fairly by Thought Forms.
